Nvidia shares rose slightly early Wednesday as the tech sector prepared for a big day. Alphabet’s earnings are expected after the market closes, and investors hope the report will not bring back recent swings in Nvidia’s stock.

Nvidia’s stock gained 0.2% in early trading, adding to a 2% increase on Tuesday that boosted the whole chip sector. Over the past year, Nvidia has jumped nearly 25%, but it is still down about 1% for the month. Like other chip stocks, it faces worries about competition and whether high chip prices can last.

Investors will pay close attention to Alphabet’s results later on Wednesday to learn more about the company’s plans for spending on artificial intelligence. These decisions could affect Nvidia and other chipmakers.

Before Alphabet’s report, investors have news of a new AI partnership to consider. Nvidia and Alphabet are teaming up with German data-robotics company Microagi, soon after the startup raised $55 million in seed funding to grow its AI robotics work.

Microagi plans to use Google Cloud to speed up work on models that help robots understand and interact with the world around them. The company will also use Nvidia’s Blackwell platform to handle larger training tasks. According to an Nvidia director who works with AI startups in the EMEA region, robotics is now one of the toughest areas for AI. It needs huge real-world datasets, fast computing, and a complete platform to turn models into working intelligent machines. The director said that using Blackwell-powered systems on Google Cloud will help Microagi train and deploy AI robots for business and industry.
